Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what we usually get asked

So How Does It Work?

1. Watch the free training.

2. Complete the short questionnaire.

3. Book your free Home Buying Strategy Session.

4. We'll help you understand where you stand, what options may be available, and the next sensible step towards home ownership in Australia.

Is The Strategy Session Really Free?

Yes. The strategy session is complimentary. Because we limit the number of strategy sessions we offer each week, we simply ask that you only book if you're serious about exploring your options and intend attending your appointment.

What If I'm Not Ready To Buy Yet?

The strategy session is designed for UK & Irish expats who are hoping to buy within the next 12 months.

If you're more than 12 monthsaway from buying, the information discussed today may not be relevant by the time you're ready to take action, as lender policies, interest rates and government support can all change over time.

If that's you, we'd encourage you to revisit the strategy session when buying becomes a more immediate goal.

What Happens After I Answer The Questions?

After you answer a few quick questions, you’ll be able to book a time for your free Home Buying Strategy Call. Your answers help us understand your situation before the call so we can make the conversation more useful.

What If We Are On A Temporary Visa?

Being on a temporary visa doesn't automatically mean you can't buy property in Australia. However, the rules are generally more restrictive.

Depending on your circumstances, you may face additional costs, be limited to certain property types, and have fewer lending options available.

If you're buying with a partner who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, the options available may be different.

If you're considering purchasing while on a temporary visa, it's important to do your own research regarding FIRB requirements, foreign purchaser stamp duty surcharges, and any state-specific fees that may apply.

Why Should I Use A Mortgage Broker?

We work with more than 30 lenders, all of whom assess borrowers differently. That means what one lender may decline, another may be comfortable with. Rather than being limited to a single bank's policies and products, we help identify lenders and loan options that may suit your circumstances.

How Much Does It Cost To Work With You?

In most cases, we are paid by the lender once your loan settles, meaning there is generally no fee for our mortgage broking service.

If any fees were ever applicable, these would be discussed and agreed with you upfront.

What Happens If I Decide To Move Forward?

If we believe we may be able to help, we'll guide you through the next steps, including assessing your borrowing position, preparing a lending strategy, obtaining pre-approval (where appropriate), and supporting you through the purchase and settlement process.

We also have a trusted network of professionals, including conveyancers, buyers advocates, accountants, financial planners and other specialists who we can introduce you to, if and when required.

Do You Help Clients Australia-Wide?

Yes. We help UK & Irish expats across Australia, with clients located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and beyond.

Most meetings take place via Zoom, phone and email, although clients are also welcome to meet with us at our South Yarra office in Melbourne.
